Twitter has Miscounted its Daily Users for Three Years

Twitter has miscounted daily users on its service for three years straight, overcounting by up to 1.9 million users each quarter. This was due to inadvertently counting multiple accounts as active when they were all tied to a single user, even if they weren’t in use. These incorrect usage numbers were given for Q1 2019 through Q4 2021.Elon Musk has broken the silence after purchasing the highest stake of the social media company. Elon Musk tweeted Oh hi lol on  after purchasing 9.2% shares of The top Electric Vehicle company owns 73,486,938 shares of Twitter.

The Securities and Exchange Commission valued the shares as $2.89 billion at closing. The entrepreneur’s purchase caused the shares to rise 25% in the market sale. This comes after the entrepreneur criticized the social media platform. Elon Musk recently posted a survey on Twitter about whether the social network site allows users to speak freely.

Musk posted that “Free speech is essential to a functioning democracy. Do you believe Twitter rigorously adheres to this principle?”. Users responded that nearly 70% of people said that the social media platform does not stick to the oath of free speech and the entrepreneur has more than eighty million followers and asked the followers about the steps that can be done to promote free speech.

Last month, the famous entrepreneur said that he is thinking of starting a new social media platform. Twitter is currently working on making the platform free from conservative viewpoints. The company also blocked the conservative satire platform The Babylon Bee from its social media platform for mocking the Biden administration. Musk also added that the social media site also blocked sharing links to a New York Post article exposing the contents of a laptop belonging to Hunter Biden. The critics criticized the story as  Russian disinformation at a time because the information was relevant.
