Google Updates Google Messages

Google Messages is adding new features here shortly that will make organizing your conversations easier and also help you find important messages later on. An updated version is rolling out that hints at the new goods, which include pinned conversations.

The XDA Developers have managed to dig them out in an APK teardown. The first one is support for pinned conversations. As the name suggests, it will let you pin up to three conversations at the top of your list for quick access. You needn’t burn calories scrolling or searching your most accessed conversations. The second is starred messages that will let you bookmark messages across conversations. These messages will be accessible through the search bar and probably a dedicated section in the overflow menu. Starred messages will even carry a star badge for quicker identification.

Google Messages will get a little closer to the functionality that popular chat messaging applications like WhatsApp and Telegram already offer. Google is testing a lot of new features for its messaging app, and it is also expected to offer a new tablet UI, as per previous reports. Shortly, we could also see features like conversation filters and a revamped emoji menu for much easier access to GIFs and stickers. Those who are using the beta version of the app can check out some of these features. Again, note that there is no guarantee that all the features discovered in the APK teardowns will appear in the live build.

Google Messages gains an alternate One UI-inspired design, the Chromecast with Google TV gets an April update, Samsung begins rolling out its May 2021 patch, and more.
