Coronavirus Report from Virginia: New Updates

The Virginia Department of Health has reported 677,013 total cases of Covid-19 across the nation as of Tuesday, June 8, 2021, since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.That is more than 182 from the 676,831 as reported on Monday, which is a larger increase than the 90 new cases reported from Sunday to Monday.

 As per the latest update from the state’s vaccine dashboard, 8,426,995 doses of vaccine have been ordered in Virginia as of Tuesday, which is more than the 8,402,939 doses reported on Monday. Fifty-six percent (56%) of the state’s population has received at least one shot, with forty-six percent (46%) being fully vaccinated. 7,501,012 PCR tests have been directed in as of Tuesday, with a 2.1 percent positivity rate from these tests over the last week, which is less than 2.2 percent as reported on Monday.

As of Tuesday, there were 11,253 reported coronavirus-related deaths in the country since the pandemic’s beginning.Four hundred fifty-two people in were hospitalized as of Tuesday with a confirmed or test-pending case of Covid-19, more than the 424 as reported on Monday.56,678 Covid patients have been recovered and released from hospitals in Virginia since the beginning of the pandemic.

These hospital statistics are different from those which were reported by VDH, which only gathers hospitalization status at the time each case is examined by VDH.This information is reported according to the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association, which receives daily reports from hospitals from all around the country.
